Governor Chris Christie on Hurricane Irene: "Get the hell off the beach!"

From Trenton, N.J.: “Get the hell off the beach … and get in your car,” Governor Christie said during a late Friday afternoon news conference. “You’re done, its 4:30, you’ve maximized your tan.” “We have the possibility of record flooding,” said Governor Christie. “So just by awful luck, this thing is hitting New Jersey at a time when we’re at high tide, so the likelihood of flooding along the coast is overwhelming – and serious flooding along the coast – not just like you’re feet are getting wet.”

The demise of Irene has already begun. There is no visible eye. The storm intensity is down to 99 mph. With 90% confidence, we predict a total damage bill below $1 billion.
Oh no, will millions of casino/ alcohol dollars be lost for nothing?

Irene is churning north packing maximum sustained winds of 115 miles (185 kilometers) per hour, a Category 3 hurricane on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale, the National Hurricane Center said in a 2 a.m. Miami time advisory. Earlier estimates had Irene growing to Category 4 with winds of up to 155 mph. Aug. 26 (Bloomberg)
