This map plots the winning candidate's party by state throughout presidential elections, illustrating state-level visualizations of electoral returns from 1840 - 2008. Check out blue 1936 and red 1984:

Where have Republicans been especially strong in Congressional elections? These maps show the relatively consistent Republican strength in much of the South and Midwest in Congressional elections and the relative weakness of GOP candidates in much of New England. Districts in which the Republican party did not field a candidate are represented without shading.

New England Patriots' Dan Connolly 71-yard kickoff return!

New England Patriots OL Dan Connolly, a 313-pound full-blown offensive lineman, runs back a kickoff 71 yards. The Packers tried a squib kick to keep the ball away from New England. Truly amazing!
