Obama defends US mining data in 2013

obama data miningDateline 2013: Hacking didn't being with Russia. US President Barack Obama has defended the surveillance practices of his administration. The Obama government and its spy agencies can see much of people's online activities. Leaked documents show that they have been using the world's largest internet companies to spy on foreigners. Civil liberties groups are furious. Al Jazeera's Patty Culhane reports from Washington.

Singing, shouting, and anger over Los Alamitos Sanctuary City ordinance

Sanctuary City Los Alamitos City Hall was the scene where some clashed over a Sanctuary City ordinance. Singing, shouting, and debating took place in and out of the chambers. There's no single definition of what is a sanctuary city, but generally speaking, it's a city (or a county, or a state) that limits its cooperation with federal immigration enforcement agents in order to protect low-priority immigrants from deportation, while still turning over those who have committed serious crimes.
