The 'will-she, won't-she' over whether Sarah Palin plans to run for US president in 2012 is reaching fever pitch. The former governor of Alaska, who was vice presidential candidate in 2008, took a potentially significant step towards the White House with an appearance in Iowa.
The state is the first to nominate its presidential candidates and often sets the tone for campaigns.
Palin spoke at the Iowa Republican's annual Ronald Reagan Dinner in Des Moines and joked that she even had to weigh up going for a jog.
She said her husband Todd told her: "If anyone spots you in tennis shoes, the headline's going to be 'Palin in Iowa decides to run'."
