Timothy Carney's OBAMANOMICS!

Jim Puplava talks to Timothy Carney on his radio show about his book OBAMANOMICS: How Barack Obama is bankrupting you and enriching his wall street friends, corporate lobbyists, and union bosses! (Recorded on February 27th 2010) He talks about the ongoing process of how he's accomplishing this and who exactly is getting rich.

Synopsis of the book:
Obama Is Making You Poorer—But Who’s Getting Rich?

Goldman Sachs, GE, Pfizer, the United Auto Workers—the same “special interests” Barack Obama was supposed to chase from the temple—are profiting handsomely from Obama’s Big Government policies that crush taxpayers, small businesses, and consumers. In Obamanomics, investigative reporter Timothy P. Carney digs up the dirt the mainstream media ignores and the White House wishes you wouldn’t see. Rather than Hope and Change, Obama is delivering corporate socialism to America, all while claiming he’s battling corporate America. It’s corporate welfare and regulatory robbery—it’s Obamanomics.

Congressman Ron Paul says, “Every libertarian and free-market conservative needs to read Obamanomics.” And Jonah Goldberg, columnist and bestselling author says, “Obamanomics is conservative muckraking at its best and an indispensable field guide to the Obama years.”

If you’ve wondered what’s happening to America, as the federal government swallows up the financial sector, the auto industry, and healthcare, and enacts deficit exploding “stimulus packages,” this book makes it all clear—it’s a big scam. Ultimately, Obamanomics boils down to this: every time government gets bigger, somebody’s getting rich, and those somebodies are friends of Barack. This book names the names—and it will make your blood boil.

Head of IMF Proposes New Reserve Currency!

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the head of the International Monetary Fund, suggested Friday the organization might one day be called on to provide countries with a global reserve currency that would serve as an alternative to the U.S. dollar.
"That day has not yet come, but I think it is intellectually healthy to explore these kinds of ideas now," he said in a speech on the future mandate of the 186-nation Washington-based lending organization.
He said having other alternatives to the dollar "would limit the extent to which the international monetary system as a whole depends on the policies and conditions of a single, albeit dominant, country."

Do these "leaders" speak for you?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi:“Those people sitting at that kitchen table — they don’t want to hear about process. They want to hear about results.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid:“Now, we as leaders here, the speaker and I, have not talked about doing reconciliation as the only way out of all this. Of course it’s not the only way out. But remember, since 1981, reconciliation has been used 21 times. Most of it’s been used by Republicans for major things, like much of the Contract for America, Medicare reform, the tax cuts for rich people in America. So reconciliation isn’t something that’s never been done before.”

Banking Activity for TARP CPP Recipients!

If you're so inclined to track every dollar and every bailout recipient of our U.S. Government, there is a frequently updated database to help you with this, no doubt pleasurable endevour. Subsidyscope, a project of the PEW Charitable Trusts, has a wealth of information, charts, graphs and datasets on the bank bailout, as well as a map of recipients of TARP bailout funds, by county.

Subsidyscope.com http://subsidyscope.com/bailout/tarp/map/ enables you to mouse over a county to see banking activity for TARP Capital Purchase Program (CPP) recipient institutions in that county. You can make a selection from the drop down menu to view share of total deposits held in each county that are held by a TARP CPP recipient; share of total branches in each county that are managed by a TARP CPP recipient, or the percentage of total HMDA lending originated in each county by TARP CPP recipient banks.

A history of U.S. Gov't bailouts can be found here: http://www.propublica.org/special/government-bailouts
It also allows you to view the latest bailouts and actually find a bailout near you:

"With the flurry of recent government bailouts, we decided to try to put them in perspective. The circles below represent the size of U.S. government bailout, calculated in 2008 dollars. They are also in chronological order. Our chart focuses on U.S. government bailouts of U.S. corporations (and one city). We have not included instances where the U.S. government aided other nations."

Obama Rejects Attackers' Cries of 'Socialism'!

Speaking to the Business Roundtable yesterday, Obama said: "Contrary to the claims of some of my critics, I am an ardent believer in the free market," Obama said in prepared remarks. "We have arrived at a juncture in our politics where reasonable efforts to update our regulations, or make basic investments in our future, are too often greeted with cries of 'government takeover' or even 'socialism',".

"Getting this balance right has less to do with big government or small government than it does smart government. It's not about being anti-business or pro-government; it's about being pro-growth and pro-jobs," he said.

Once again, can we really believe anything this man says?

Johnson: The American people arent buying Democrats claims of bipartisanship!

Today, Congressman Sam Johnson (3rd. Dist.—Texas) took to the House floor to argue that the Presidents new healthcare proposal is only the same Washington takeover of healthcare that raises taxes, kills jobs and shoves bureaucracy into the patient-doctor relationship. "Many of my colleagues in the House are ignoring the American people. Our constituents are holding rallies, posting blogs writing to their congressmen and doing everything in their power to get them to listen. They don't want a Government takeover of healthcare!" says Johnson.

In the House, Johnson is an ardent conservative. By some views, Johnson had the most conservative record in the House for three consecutive years, opposing pork barrel projects of all kinds, voting for more IRAs and against extending unemployment benefits. The conservative watchdog group Citizens Against Government Waste has consistently rated him as being friendly to taxpayers.

The changing face of Conservatism!

Judge Andrew Napolitano spent some time at CPAC last week and says he's optimistic about the future of the Republican party and the conservative movement. He states: "During the Bush years, the Republicans and Democrates morphed into one party called the "big government party". But now the GOP is coming back to it's core principles....or is it?" Granted he's libertarian but not anti-capitalist.

Judge Napolitano is the youngest life-tenured Superior Court judge in the history of the State of New Jersey. While on the bench from 1987 to 1995, Judge Napolitano tried more than 150 jury trials and sat in all parts of the Superior Court—criminal, civil, equity and family. Judge Napolitano has written three books: Constitutional Chaos: What Happens When the Government Breaks Its Own Laws; a New York Times bestseller, The Constitution in Exile: How the Federal Government Has Seized Power by Rewriting the Supreme Law of the Land; and A Nation of Sheep.

How Obama wants to pay for health reform!

Increase Medicare tax on high-income households: Currently, the Medicare payroll tax is 2.9% on all wages -- with the worker and his employer each paying 1.45%.
Require insurance coverage: The president would impose a financial penalty on most Americans who don't buy health insurance.
Require employers to pay if they don't provide coverage: The president's proposal would also impose requirements on employers with more than 50 employees to pay into the system if they do not provide their workers with coverage, or if they provide a plan but it proves unaffordable for some workers.
Impose new fees on the health industry: The president's proposal would impose new fees on health care companies such as drugmakers, medical device makers and insurers. The fees would be in exchange for the new business that will come their way as a result of the expected influx of Americans who will obtain health coverage and use more medical services.
Trim various health-related tax breaks: The president's proposal would impose an additional 10% penalty for non-health withdrawals from tax-advantaged health savings accounts.

Traficant will launch independent congressional bid!

Former Democratic Rep. James Traficant, who in September was released from a federal prison after serving seven years on a bribery and racketeering conviction, told CNN Tuesday he will launch an independent bid to return to Congress.
"I will be running for congress…as an independent," Traficant told CNN's Kyra Philips. "I have been a Democrat all my life, and quite frankly I am disgusted with both parties. I hate to say this. My father is rolling over in his grave, a truck driver."
In the House, Traficant was known for his flamboyant and eccentric style. He was a constant thorn in the side of the Democratic caucus. Let's see if the Dems welcome him back with open arms!

In 2002, Traficant was indicted on federal corruption charges for taking campaign funds for personal use. Again, he opted to represent himself, insisting that the trial was part of a vendetta against him dating to his 1983 trial. On April 15, he was convicted of 10 felony counts including bribery, racketeering, and tax evasion.

Traficant served his first 17 months in prison at FCI Allenwood and shortly after, he was shackled and put in solitary confinement for causing a riot after telling a guard, "People can't hear you. Speak up."[20] For nine months, beginning in March 2004, he served with 20 inmates in one locked room at the Federal Correctional Institution Raybrook with a public commode, and with four in a room at Federal Medical Center, Rochester for three years. He was admonished by prison officials in Raybrook he was only a "few points away" from a penitentiary. In the seven years of incarceration, he refused any visitors because he didn't want anyone to see him. He wore his hair in a pony tail without his trademark hairpiece. Traficant took up artwork while in prison; according to his wife, he did not have access to a computer there [21]. "I understood the dynamics of prison life." Regarding the overcrowded prison system he said, "And now what you have is, they want to keep the prisons open, keep the jobs going. They're putting 20, 30 years on some of these young people, and it's out of hand." He was released on September 2, 2009, at age 68, and is subject to three years of probation.[22]

While in prison, Traficant received support from David Duke, who urged visitors to his personal website to donate to Traficant's canteen fund. Duke also posted a letter written by Traficant stating that he was targeted by the U.S. Department of Justice for, among other things, defending John Demjanjuk. Traficant also claimed, in the letter, that he knew facts about "Waco, Ruby Ridge, Pan Am Flight 103, Jimmy Hoffa and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy", which he may divulge in the future. Author Michael Collins Piper, who initially helped circulate Traficant's letter, said that "There's stuff I've written about Traficant that's showing up in places I don't even know. It's like (six) degrees of separation with the Internet now," and denied that Traficant had any direct connections to Duke.[21]

An Inconvenient Tax!

A new documentary film, "An Inconvenient Tax" is soon to be released on Democrat's most anticipated and beloved day of the year, April 15th! This film reveals how Congress uses our impossibly complex tax code to achieve political goals that have nothing to do with raising revenue. Featuring economic experts, commentators, and political voices such as Steve Forbes, Mike Huckabee, Noam Chomsky, David M. Walker, and others, the film traces the evolution of the income tax through wars, economic booms and busts, and presidencies. To inspire debate and encourage change, the film also presents several credible options for reform. http://aninconvenienttax.com/aitblog/

Four minutes into the clip Matthews asks: "Do you have your heart set on covering the uninsured?" He answers: "Republicans believe that allowing the market to increase supply + consumer driven patient centered wellness to reduce the cost will untimately bring down costs and make healthcare accessible to more people, more inexpensively." Matthews ingores this statement and then proceeds to blame Bush/8. McCotter responds: "Democratic senators blocked tort reform and association health plans". McCotter finishes with a great line: "I love you leftist view where everthing is free and we don't have to raise the cost....Americans don't want this......your arguement is with the American people, not Republicans!"

In this video shot in West Hartford, Ct., Schiff says "At this point I think the stakes are too high. I find it hard to remain a spectator and just watch this trainwreck happen.....The government is growing like a cancer at this point and it's sucking the life blood out of the economy! Boehner: President’s Health Care Proposal Jeopardizes Summit, Doubles Down on Failed Approach Americans Have Already Rejected!

Washington, Feb 22 -

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement in response to the partisan health care proposal posted online by the White House for discussion at the upcoming bipartisan health care summit:

“The President has crippled the credibility of this week’s summit by proposing the same massive government takeover of health care based on a partisan bill the American people have already rejected. This new Democrats-only backroom deal doubles down on the same failed approach that will drive up premiums, destroy jobs, raise taxes, and slash Medicare benefits.

“This week’s summit clearly has all the makings of a Democratic infomercial for continuing on a partisan course that relies on more backroom deals and parliamentary tricks to circumvent the will of the American people and jam through a massive government takeover of health care.

“The best way to protect families and small businesses in this time of economic uncertainty is to start over with a step-by-step approach to health care reform focused on lowering costs, and that’s exactly what Republicans are fighting for. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has confirmed that the Republican bill reduces premiums for families and small businesses by up to 10 percent. The Republican bill reduces premiums by implementing common-sense reforms such as allowing Americans to purchase insurance across state lines. Despite their rhetoric to the contrary, none of the Democrats’ proposals – including the President’s – provides this much-needed reform in a manner that can actually be effective.

"Republicans are also standing with the American people by calling for health care reform to protect human life and not use taxpayer money to fund abortion. The Republican bill would codify the Hyde Amendment and prohibit all authorized and appropriated federal funds from being used to pay for abortion, which the President’s proposal would allow. Pro-life Democrats in the House have already pledged to vote against this provision. Health care reform should be an opportunity to protect human life – not end it – and the American people agree.”
