Debate: Can Gov. Rick Perry Win Against President Obama?

From a Fox News broadcast on Jun 20, 2011:

Top advisers to Texas Governor Rick Perry say he's 50/50 on whether to seek the GOP nomination for 2012, but in a speech this weekend before the Republican leadership conference, Perry was very clear about Republican party values and how the Obama administration is mishandling the nation. But should he decide to run, is Perry the candidate the GOP has been waiting for and can he beat President Obama? Watch the debate between Brad Blakeman, former deputy assistant to President George W. Bush and Dick Harpootlian, South Carolina's Democratic Party Chair.

So what's inside  the heart of  Texas governor Rick Perry? Here he is speaking at a prayer rally on August 6, 2011. You decide:

Many won't agree, but I think Perry is the preferred nominee by the dems (followed closely by Romney).

This is going to be a very nasty election and Perry has alot of baggage to deal with.

From being Al Gore's campaign manager in 1988 to his support of one of the largest eminent domain land grabs in recent history. He give's the dems much to work with.

Now he's trying to endear himself to the Tea Party crowd. They'll certainly want to know what transformed him from Dem to Republican in the 1990's - or better yet why has he adopted much of the Tea Party agenda today? I don't think his standard answer of "I came to my senses" is going to play well.
